The Ford Foundation seeks to hire a dynamic, creative and innovative leader to serve as Program Officer in Governance and Human Rights unit.
The goal of the Ford Foundation's Governance and Human Rights Initiative in West Africa is to significantly build demand for social inclusion and anti-corruption activities in West Africa and to strengthen government oversight institutions that are responsive to these public demands. The Program Officer will be responsible for developing, monitoring and coordinating grant-making activities in pursuit of foregoing goals and objectives in Nigeria and West Africa. Currently, the largest share of the funding is to grantee partners' work in Nigeria.
In driving the Governance and Human Rights Initiative, the Program Officer is expected to provide intellectual leadership and wide field experience to ensure that grant making activities draw from cutting-edge knowledge on focus issues such as political and economic impunity, illicit financial flows, opacity in governance, and grave human rights violations. The Program Officer is also expected to respond to the priority needs of the region, which include reduction of poverty and inequality, exclusion, youth unemployment and other vulnerabilities consistent with the field office and program strategies of the Foundation.
The Program Officer will report to the Foundation's Representative in West Africa and will work collaboratively with program directors in New York and colleagues in all the regional offices.
CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS:
* Flexibility and comfort working with poor, vulnerable and challenged communities in West Africa
* Familiarity with the governance systems in West Africa and how to navigate them
* A proven ability to think analytically, independently and critically with agility to translate ideas and insights into policy and action through coherent and viable programs
* An understanding of the civil society landscape in West Africa
* Exemplary communication skills, both oral and written in English and French
* Substantial previous working and living experience in and have acquired a broad knowledge of the history and cultures of West Africa

The Business Analyst role provides a unique opportunity for the selected candidate to define the business processes supported by the Health Care Reform Exchange. The role involves documenting business requirements for MD, across the lifecycle. Define DHMH’s Solution Requirements
·Gather inputs from all internal DHMH team to clearly understand the solutions to be provided by the Health Care Exchange.
·Compare and contrast MD’s requirements with those of other states.
·Be the Lead in defining and documenting the business processes for which the modern eligibility and enrollment systems is being designed for. Ensure all business processes for MD’s envisioned eligibility and enrollment solution are fully documented and reflect current expectations moving forward.
·BA would be responsible for delivering key deliverables: Market Requirements Document (MRD), the Business Requirements document (BRD), a High Level Functional Requirements Document (FRD).
·Working with the DHMH team, BA will help evaluate existing COTS solutions.
·The BA will help establish a functional fit and drive a gap analysis between COTS offering, MD’s requirements and what needs to be custom developed. These custom requirements will be further defined and documented by the BA

The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Research Internship Program and the Howard University Transportation Research Center (HUTRC) are pleased to announce the 2014 Research Internship Summer Program. The program is open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing. The summer internship program is scheduled to run for at least 10 weeks, from Monday, June 2 to Friday, August 8, 2014.
The internships will be located at DDOT Headquarters (55 M Street SE, Washington, DC 20003), unless otherwise noted in the position description. These are hourly, paid positions with a maximum of 40 hours a week with no paid holidays, no sick leave and no overtime. James Lawson himself, who will be present (and presenting) throughout the week, along with a number of other remarkable and knowledgeable individuals.

The Business Analyst role provides a unique opportunity for the selected candidate to define the business processes supported by the Health Care Reform Exchange. The role involves documenting business requirements for MD, across the lifecycle. Define DHMH’s Solution Requirements
·Gather inputs from all internal DHMH team to clearly understand the solutions to be provided by the Health Care Exchange.
·Compare and contrast MD’s requirements with those of other states.
·Be the Lead in defining and documenting the business processes for which the modern eligibility and enrollment systems is being designed for. Ensure all business processes for MD’s envisioned eligibility and enrollment solution are fully documented and reflect current expectations moving forward.
·BA would be responsible for delivering key deliverables: Market Requirements Document (MRD), the Business Requirements document (BRD), a High Level Functional Requirements Document (FRD).
·Working with the DHMH team, BA will help evaluate existing COTS solutions.
·The BA will help establish a functional fit and drive a gap analysis between COTS offering, MD’s requirements and what needs to be custom developed. These custom requirements will be further defined and documented by the BA
·Ultimately, BA will help ensure that the deployed solution will meet the business requirements designed by the Business analyst and analyst would be responsible to ensure that the business requirements are supported fully by the deployed solution.
·Analyst would work with Project Manager, internal and vendor development teams as well as the deployment team to ensure that solutions being selected, implemented and deployed meet the required business processes.
·Review test plans and test scripts.
·Participate in all aspects of solution development, including gathering of requirements and communicating design via Use Cases and UML diagrams.
·Flexibility and willingness to take other responsibilities and assignments as required.
·Work as a member of a virtual development team where members of the team may be physically located in different parts of the country.

The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Research Internship Program and the Howard University Transportation Research Center (HUTRC) are pleased to announce the 2014 Research Internship Summer Program. The program is open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing. The summer internship program is scheduled to run for at least 10 weeks, from Monday, June 2 to Friday, August 8, 2014.
The internships will be located at DDOT Headquarters (55 M Street SE, Washington, DC 20003), unless otherwise noted in the position description.
