NAVSEA plans to recruit Summer Hires this year as part of the Pathways program. The program has been established by OPM as a replacement to the former SCEP/STEP program. Under Pathways the Summer Hire positions will be temporary internships targeted to college student.
Interested candidates will be able to apply for these positions on the USA Jobs website from March 31 to April 7. The USA Jobs portal is the only way to submit an application under the Pathways program.
Students selected for the internships will be offered temporary appointments beginning in early June. These appointments will not exceed April 30, 2015, so that students can return during winter break if the command so chooses.
NAVSEA will be offering positions in the GS-2 through GS-5 levels for administrative positions. Candidates interested in engineering positions will be hired at the GS-2 through GS-7 levels. Applicants will be rated based on their level of education. For example, students who have yet to complete any college coursework would be hired at lower grade levels than students with multiple years of college credit. A security clearance is required of all NAVSEA employees. If selected, this process will begin during onboarding.
NAVSEA HR will coordinate the selection process with selecting officials from each of the codes who would like to participate in early April. SEA 10 will contact AOs in the coming days to get input in the number and type of summer hires needed by each department.
Candidates are asked to apply for each position for which they may be qualified on the USA Jobs website at the following links:
