The Assistant Director for Training develops, coordinates, and delivers diversity-related training for students, staff and faculty across the campus in areas such as workplace diversity, cross-cultural competency and communication, sexual harassment, and conflict resolution. S/he has primary responsibility for the Intergroup Dialogue Program, which includes courses that meet the General Education Cultural Competence criteria. S/he will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with campus departments and units in order to design and implement training programs and other initiatives that advance the goals of the University's Strategic Plan for Diversity. The Assistant Director for Training reports to the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree required. Broad and substantive education in the fields of education, social sciences or a related field. Substantive knowledge and experience in the areas of diversity programming and cross-cultural communication. Knowledgeable about current trends related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. At least five years of experience developing, implementing, and teaching/facilitating diversity training programs. Demonstrated commitment to social justice. Excellent communication ability, including public speaking and written skills. Ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse cultural and identity groups and from diverse job positions. Solid command of basic desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
PREFERENCES: Experience in a higher education setting. Knowledge and experience in program evaluation and assessment. Knowledge and experience in grant writing. Previous supervisory experience. Knowledge and experience with social media. Multi-lingual capacity is an asset.
