Unity Health Care is seeking several candidates to work as In-Person-Assisters (IPAs) under the DC Health Link, a health insurance marketplace that provides consumers with access to affordable, high-quality insurance coverage. These positions are funded by grants from the DC- Health Benefit Exchange Authority (HBE) and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
IPAs function as health insurance navigators helping consumers select the best insurance plan to meet their health needs and those of their family members. IPA duties include:
· Providing accurate information to clients about the DC-HBE, Medicare/Medicaid and other health coverage options.
· Engaging in outreach and education activities throughout the city during community wide events and at several Unity community health clinics located in Wards 1, 5, 7 and 8.
· Assisting individuals with navigation of the online marketplace and selecting appropriate coverage.
· Enrolling applicants into their desired health plan of choice.
· Completing data collection and reporting activities on performance measures.
· Participating in DC-HBE and other professional development and training opportunities.
· Other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will have:
· Working knowledge of the District’s community healthcare resources and services.
· Experience in community outreach and engagement.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Basic computer and typing skills.
IPAs positions are fulltime with flexibility for evening and weekend scheduling. Positions are available for short and long term assignments (6, 11, 15 months) and are ideal for students/working professionals interested in flexible, short term projects.
Applicants must have availability to participate in a mandatory training on either September 3rd, 2013 or September 19th, 2013.
Salary is commensurate upon experience. Unity Health Care offers a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Vision and Dental Insurance, 403 B Retirement, Life Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability.
