Paid Social Media Intern Wanted (Washington, DC)
Fulltime/Part-time School Year
Stand Up for Rural America, a network of more than 2,000 nonprofit rural community developers is spearheading the launch of a coalition driven social media campaign, 10,000 Friends of Rural America, to bring a fresh voice to the national dialogue about rural issues. It will use social media tools to: engage rural people and institutions in creating and recruiting urban supporters; and mobilize Friends to focus attention on issues with broad rural impact.
We are seeking an intern attending college or graduate school in the Washington, DC, Chicago, IL or Knoxville, TN area, with rural roots or familiarity with rural communities and issues, who cares passionately about the future of Rural America. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, energetic self-starter with excellent communications and people skills, capable of respecting and relating to all kinds of people and a quick learner with a good sense of humor. He/she must be highly detail oriented, committed to team work, able to take directions seriously and follow through meticulously.
The intern will engage in a wide variety of duties, including research, writing, data base creation and maintenance, graphic design, document and web production, coalition member recruitment and stewardship, scheduling, preparing and attending meetings and liaison with other team members. She/he will report to the Stand Up for Rural America Director.
Other team members include leaders from the participating coalition members and professional consultants.
Successful candidates will be proficient in using Excel, Photoshop, In-Design, or equivalents, and one or more data content management systems. Social media campaign experience is preferred.
Compensation is competitive for interns with similar skills.
