Senior Communications Officer
We’re looking for an innovative, creative, results-driven candidate to tell our story – a team member who can:
1. Identify the right audiences
2. Suggest outreach channels based on those audiences, whether it’s CNN, The New York Times or a trade publication and
3. Use innovative and traditional strategies and tactics to spread the word (eg: events, partnerships, technology, interviews and written material).
Other key criteria
1. Impact:
*Getting people’s attention and Novozymes noticed with new, better or different ideas
*Spreading our message online with Facebook and Twitter; helping us add other digital tools
*Successfully conceptualize, advance and execute media events
*Develop and maintain external media, trade and key stakeholder relationships.
2. Speed:
*Working fast: hunting for and seizing opportunities, and writing rapid response
*Running multiple tactics at the same time
*Following policy and political developments important to Novozymes translating them into simple, practical terms for use in various communications channels.
3. Key Qualifications
*Bachelors in Communications, Political Science, Journalism or related field. Masters degree is preferred
*At least 4 years of professional experience in Communications or at an agency with extensive work translating complex information – including scientific data, policy, rules and regulations – into clear, concise and engaging terms
*Demonstrated success in traditional (phone calls, email pitches) and creative methods of engaging media, with placements in top-tier publications
*Proven writing skills, including the ability to write original, thought-provoking, published copy (OpEds and Letters to the Editor, as well as speeches, press releases/statements, testimony, newsletters and blogs)
*The ability to travel up to 35% initially, which will later settle to approximately 25% domestically and internationally
*Related experience must include crisis management and the ability to speak on-the-record. If you are self-motivated, creative and think dynamically, let’s hear from you.
