*The Generational Alliance* is a multi-issue, national, and strategic
collaboration of organizations that support the empowerment of low-income
youth, youth of color, LGBT youth and young women who are pursuing
concrete, progressive victories on the priority issues for them and their
communities. Specifically, we are strengthening a movement among several
fields of progressive youth and student engagement— electoral, community
organizing, culture/communications, policy, and leadership development—by
building the capacity of organizations and leaders and encouraging
relationships, resources, agendas, and projects that bridge organizational
boundaries.
The *Interim Project Director (Interim Executive Director)* supports our
members' efforts to push issue campaigns and grassroots organizing efforts
through joint work and collaboration. This position serves to bring
together different grassroots organizations that focus on the emerging
majority (people of color, queer and trans* people, and women) to build
collective power for their communities. The Interim Project Director also
serves as a spokesperson for the organization, and manages the staff,
relationship with the Tides Center (fiscal sponsor), fundraising, manages
programs, brings people together, trains organizations and facilitates
meetings and conflicts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Management:*
- Manage regular updates to the members and the leadership team
- Manage and evaluate staff, consultants and interns
- Manage and organize check in’s with staff and bi-weekly staff meetings
- Outreach to new members of the Gen Alliance
*Fundraising & Development:*
- Fundraise the 2014 fiscal year 2014
- Work with staff and Leadership Team on a realignment process for the
organization
- Write and execute grant reports
- Build new and existing relationships with donors
- Work with Tides Center to produce necessary information for foundations
- Develop new funding sources
- Work with LT and Communications Manager to close out relationship with
Tides
- Work with the LT and partners to create a development plan
- Work
to raise funds for 2014
- Ensure compliance, time management, vacation and human resource
policies are followed by staff
- Develop and nurture relationships with partners, unions and
corporations
- Serve as the point of contact for the Tides Center
- Approve all financial documents, credit card statements and
transactions
*Programs and Trainings:*
- Lead the Gen Alliance in planning, development and implementation and
evaluation of c3 programs and services
- Work with all member organizations, working groups and Leadership Team
to implement programs
- Coordinate at least one all member meeting (around the realignment
process)
- Manage strong facilitation of collaborative work among alliance
members via conference calls, in-person meetings and online communications
- Execute future programs and sustaining strategic relationships for the
alliance
*Leadership Team:*
- Serve as ex-officio member of the Gen Alliance Leadership Team
- Participate and plan Leadership Team Meetings monthly meetings
- Weekly meetings with co-chairs
- Coordinate at least one in-person meeting with entire leadership team
*Relationship with Tides Center:*
*The project director is responsible for overall programmatic operations,
all fundraising and financial sustainability of the project, as well as the
supervision of all project employees and volunteers. With that role, they
will have the following responsibilities:*
- Manages project finances in accordance with Tides Center cash
management policies; takes action when notified or cash flow shortages
- Authorizes all financial transactions in accordance with funding
guidelines and Tides Center polices
- Directs allocations of financial and human resources to successfully
carry out the projects mission and activities within Tides Center and
funding guidelines
- Ensures project compliance with applicable employment laws, rules and
regulations
- Communicates to project staff, volunteers and participants the goals,
polices, and procedures of the project and Tides Center
- Follows all Tides Center procedures associated with the obligation and
expenditure of funds; develops, submits to Tides Center and manages the
annual budget and regularly reviews the projects fiscal status with Tides
Center
- Assures timely and accurate delivery of all requisite information for
employee benefits elections and Supplemental Personnel Policies
- Resolves any excess expenditures, unallowable cost, personnel or other
risk management issues in a timely manner
- Reviews staff job performance and addresses any employee performance
issues in consultation with Tides Center and the Leadership TeamPrepares
grant proposals consistent with Tides Center policies and ensure compliance
with all grant agreements
- Informs Tides Center of any new program activities in order to assure
timely budgeting and assessment of potential risk
- Collaborates with Tides Center to develop internal systems that enable
the project to effectively utilize Tides Center and track activities
required
- Maintains clear communication with the Leadership Team
*OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:*
- General administrative duties pertaining to job responsibilities
- Travel to conference and trainings
- Participate in one on one’s and monthly planning sessions with staff.
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*
- Minimum 4-5 years experience with youth or student organizing doing
issue, electoral and/or grassroots organizing
- Experience working with diverse communities including non-college
youth, LGBTQ youth, low income youth, women and people of color
- Experience with program development, implementations and management
including goals creation, plans, work plans, budgets, reporting and
implementation evaluation efforts
- Proven fundraising skills; ability to write effective grant proposals
- General understanding of c3 laws
- Previous experience developing and operating budgets
- Experience with coalitions building and collaborations
- Experience with Microsoft Work Suite and social media platforms
- Deep believer in participatory democracy
- Good communications skills, written and oral with appropriate levels
of diplomacy
- Familiarity with the youth and/or progressive movement organizations
and donors
- Ability to work independently and with a high degree of
self-motivation and self-discipline
- Ability to hold self and others accountable for high-quality, timely,
and effective results
- Strong organizational, creative problem-solving and analytical skills;
ability to manage situations and meet demanding deadlines
- Excellent project management skills; must be able to plan and manage
multiple projects both independently and with other colleagues
collaboratively
- Demonstrated history of taking initiative and following through on
responsibilities
- Strong ability to cooperate and work collaboratively toward solutions
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to build strategic relationships between different
