Position Title: Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Affairs

Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the Division of University Advancement invite applications for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Affairs.
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Affairs serves as the primary liaison to and organizer of staff support for the Alumni Association Board in the development and execution of a unified agenda for volunteer leadership including specific and measurable goals, objectives, and tactics. This position will provide the support for and direction of Board member identification, cultivation, and recruitment efforts, new member orientation, and effective Board governance and substantive interaction between Board and University leaders.
Duties of the position include:
Expand and strengthen volunteer leadership opportunities beyond the Board including the 40 regional and national clubs.
Develop and implement purposeful engagement opportunities for University leaders including specifically the Chancellor, Provost, and Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and others as appropriate.
Implement effective on-and off-campus events, programs, and activities of varying sizes and scope to facilitate greater awareness of University attributes and aspirations and to deepen connections between alumni and University faculty, staff, and students as well as with each other.
Work closely with development colleagues to identify and cultivate potential alumni prospects through volunteer leadership and engagement opportunities.
Guides planning/direction for alumni efforts including financial oversight for all programs and budgets.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, e-mail, alumni web presence and print publications.
Foster linkages between alumni and current students and student organizations as part of a larger program to develop future alumni leaders, volunteers, and donors.
Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engagement programs.
Raise funds for select special projects and events in collaboration with the Office of University Development.

Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to provide leadership, mutual respect and work effectively in diverse groups; Experience and knowledge set surrounding best practices in alumni relations and in the engagement of emerging technologies to foster connection and affinity; Experience recruiting and maximizing the time and talents of volunteers and leading them towards consensus and excitement over common goals and strategies; Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining a skilled and empowered staff/team; An employment history highlighted by increasing levels of responsibilities; Desire to be a strong team player.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is desirable. A degree from North Carolina A&T State University is not required but a resonance with the nature and values of a doctoral research university is essential.
