The Office of Undergraduate Studies' Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is seeking applicants for the position of Student Success Counselor. This a 12 month full-time position with a projected start date of June 1, 2014.
The Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS) is an advocacy and retention unit committed to ensuring that Howard University undergraduates have a comprehensive academic experience consisting of curricular and co-curricular offerings that exceed their expectations and expand the possibilities of their lives. In collaboration with the Undergraduate Schools and Colleges, the Office of Student Affairs, and various University constituency groups, we offer an array of programs and services that complement our outstanding academic programs and support student success.
The Center for Academic Excellence provides specialized retention counseling and academic support services that promote undergraduate academic excellence. Services include retention counseling, virtual and face-to-face courses, workshops, and programs that support student success.
Position Description:
CAE's Student Success Counselors work in collaboration with faculty advisers and professional advisers to provide holistic retention counseling for targeted student populations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and relevant 1-3 years of successful experience with undergraduate students in academic or student affairs. Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard, Banner, and related Student Information Systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree and 3-5 years successful experience advising undergraduate students.
